Default Brother Derek

Looked likes he may be back on track. He ran a very game race with very poor position going into the 1st turn and carried wide. This is a very game animal.

Please, please do not run him in the BC. He is an effort horse. He needs a softer spot or they will kill him. He was very tired after his race against Lava Man. This horse only needs more time and a little confidence. Cant wait to see how he progresses as a 4 year old. I thought he might have been destroyed after that terribly difficult Derby and then a Preakness he had no business running in. I think he can get lots better with time.

PGA, I totally agree. This horse would be so much better served in the Cal Cup then the Strub Series this winter and then to try Lava again in the Big Cap. I do think that he is still heavily considered for the BC if not already confirmed, so I expect to see him there which is a mistake.

I dont think he will go in the Classic. I think he needs to stay in Cali and get the Strub money.

Preachinatthebar matched strides with Brother Derek from the far turn to the wire....that doesn't bode well for Brother Derek....I'm not sure if I've seen a horse more overhyped than him in recent memory.....

You have got to be kidding me. The most overhyped horse. A great spring in Cali, two 4th place finishes in two of the best races for 3 year olds. He gets beat by Barbaro and Bernardini after two troubled trips. Comes in 2nd against older horses. And you think he is overhyped?

Preachinatthebar was not on hold like Brother Derek was. He was allowed to run free. Preach made him go very wide in the 1st turn and fairly wide 2nd. First good race distance race Brother Derek has run in a long time. And he may have matched strides having an easier run, but he also got put away by a horse that will improve, which is the key.

If its west coast, I dont trust your assessment. You have the bias virus.

i agree , he ran much better then his 4rth place finish in the derby. i knew that the race prior to the goodwood was a throw out even tho some on here gave up on him. this horse has talent. better post and cleaner race in the derby i think a 2nd. this horse has had the worst trips in 2 tc races in awile. brother derek is a very nice horse

When you can't hit the board in a short field in the LISTED stakes he ran in last month, you aren't a top-class horse IMO...period...he looked like a $10K claimer laboring down the stretch that day...I thought he was going to fall over....

I am in Indiana--far from the west coast. But who put Derek away Saturday? Preachin still has good speed for about 1/2 of the race. Derek goes full tilt the entire way and gets beat by the best horse the west coast has to offer. I dont get your point here.

I guess when Congaree came in 4th in the San Diego handicapp then he was overhyped??? Please, these horses arent machines and they are entitled to throw in a bad race from time to time.

It's free money in the Malibu, San Fernando, and Strub for Brother Derek. Good thing you don't get paid for respect. Ask Doug O'Neill

Why do they even race in California? They should close all of the tracks down.

No such thing as free money. You never know what will happen in a race.

i agree with you that it might be to much to fast for the classic. but on bad trips bd equals both sns and pd in my opinion. he couldnt have gotten a more crappier post postion
