![]() I would suspect there will be plenty more offspring of Quality Road at "theaters near by' for as long as he is alive and breeding.

![]() I meant what made his freshman year as a sire of quality and will he have continued success as a sire in year's ahead. Read the article.

![]() He might be off to a good start, but he'll never be anything compared to Golden Missile as a sire.

![]() The Golden Missle reference is one of the longest-running 'inside jokes' in Derby Trail lore.. I can't begin to explain. Should be safe to say that Quality Road will have a better stallion career than Golden Missle. He has already.

![]() I will never forget Quality Road going bat$hit crazy at the post for the Classic. I hope he doesn't pass that trait to his offspring. I do think he was a talented horse, as well as a good-looking one.

![]() Here are the final standings for the freshman sires of 2014. I think Super Saver had a better year than Quality Road. Half of Quality Road's money was from one horse (Hootenanny, who won the BC Juvenille turf). I think the two big duds were Eskenderaya and Blame, neither of whom even cracked the top 10.

![]() Yes. Who was expecting a later-developing 9-10f type to throw precocious win-early runners..

![]() I give him very little shot. Most of his two year olds were just not good movers. They had a very poor way of going. Their knee action was terrible. If he had pretty movers that just weren't that fast, then I would have some hope that they may do well when they stretch out. But that wasn't the case. Most of them were just ugly movers. I would be extremely surprised if he makes it as a sire.

Weren't there a couple of decent Blames early in the year? I thought there was some hype on his first couple of runners. |

There were a couple Blame two year olds that looked pretty good. But the vast majority did not look good at all. Based on race career, it's tough to predict who will be a good sire. A couple of the best sires right now are Tapit and Malibu Moon. Tapit won a few races but overall he didn't accomplish all that much on the track. I think he only ran about 5 times total. Malibu Moon only ran twice. I don't think too many people would have predicted that either one of those would be star sires. If you would have asked me who was going to be better between Eskenderaya and Super Saver, I would have said Eskenderaya. I thought he was a much better horse than Super Saver. But after the first few two year old sales this year, then I had the opposite opinion. There were a lot of Super Saver two year olds that looked like they could really run. Most of the Eskenderayas looked awful and that has pretty much panned out on the track so far. |
