R.I.P. Ray Muniz
Muniz, the paddock judge at Fair Grounds, died on Saturday. Ray and his late brother Mervin, the racing secretary, were fixtures at the Gentilly oval.
As Bryan Krantz wrote yesterday: "Mervin and Ray were the guys who were the first ones on the scene every work day. For no reason other than, that’s where they wanted to be. It was their life. Neither of them married and both considered themselves married to the track." http://sportsnola.com/recalling-frie...d-career-path/

Ronnie Ebanks was on ATR today to appreciate Muniz.. Was a close friend of Ebee's wife.

That was a wonderful tribute by Ebanks.

Ray was a good guy. His brother Mervin went out of his way to help me out when I went down to FG for first time. Racetrack lifers. Gone too soon
