Default Friday AQU Pick 5

1st: #1 Tizthefastlane and #4 Lil Lady Bug Purse are both legitimate at short price, but neither blows you away, I'm going to include #2 Silent Ronin and #6 Purrfectly Mine at much better prices. Silent Ronin's dam banked $86k dirt routing and this filly has yet to have a fair chance. She showed up with a bar shoe over very boggy turf in her debut, then chased wide in the slop in her dirt debut. Gets a fast track today and her sharp trainer tellingly decides not to drop her in for a tag even though he could most likely get away with it. Purrfectly Mine chased Tizthefastlane last out, but appeared to be eased up on on the far turn and now she shows up 1st-time Lasix.

A: 1,4
B: 2,6

2nd: I have nothing clever to say about this race. 1,4,6,8 look like the logical contenders in this subpar maiden claiming field.

A: 1,4,6,8

3rd: If #3 Theresas Candyrose runs back to her last race, she's gonna beat this field. Jimmy Jerkens puts her in where she can't be claimed after dangling her for $40k and I have to think the 63-day layoff in the interim was by design considering how big she ran after 316 days on the pine. She figures to get a pretty good trip stalking the inside pair as well. #5 Prize Taker was best last time and Charlton Baker is always dangerous, although her 18-1-2-5 record is still a concern. #2 Lutheran Miss took a nice step forward to break her maiden 11/28 and Jason Servis is another guy you always have to respect.

A: 3
B: None
C: 2,5

4th: #8 Charming Eyes is the horse to beat, but 3-5 on the M/L? That would be ludicrous. The problem is where you go for alternatives and in a race with slow and distance-challenged entrants, I'm forced to #1 Gingee and #7 Bella Fachi.

A: 8
B: 1,7

5th: #2 All is Number was very impressive in his well-bet debut, patiently stalking the pace 3-wide and pouncing at the top of the stretch, looking like a winner all the way around the track. Unfortunately for him, he meets up with two above-average NY-bred 3-year-olds who had laughably bad, somewhat inverse trips in the Damon Runyan last time out. #9 Tizquick was pinched back badly early on the backstretch, made a sudden, wide move on the far turn and just flattened out late. #6 Bullheaded Boy was very wide around the first turn, then was bottled up for the entirety of the far turn and finished well to get 2nd once in the clear. This race also appears to set up well for the two of them with a lot of early speed signed on. #7 Masons Dream is worth using as a C, as his maiden win was pretty good and he lost all chance in the Damon Runyan when the rider lost his irons.

A: 6,9
B: 2
C: 7

Great start. Purrfectly Mine about an hour the best and I'm one-and-done behind a 26-1 shot. **** me.
