It's a cultural thing.
You know just like the Saudi's stoning gays to death. Thankfully Alabaman's have culturally advanced/evolved at a much faster pace than the Saudi's and the majority of the mid-east even going so far as allowing Alabama homosexuals the right to work, vote and live.
