Default Saratoga Ruined !!!

I've been going there every year since 1978 and it's be ruined every year. Horrors !!! I've seen so much stuff done, some good, some questionable, but it's an ancient facility and needs work every year. The facility I first saw in 1978 would not be sufficient today and changes have reflected all kinds of things. They used to not have fences.

So I agree with Steve. They are going to do things, and should, and some of them will be good and some of them not so good. If not good, they'll change it the next year or year after. It evolves and should evolve.

The thing about the picnic tables is a good thing. It gives people a chance to pay a premium for a product. 85% of that is still free and you can show up by 7AM and feel like Ernest Hemmingway as you run for the picnic tables.

You can still bring a chair. You can still bring beer, sandwiches and food. It's a great bargain. Delaware Park used to be like that and outlawed it years ago.

One thing I was trying to say is that Saratoga has always stayed Saratoga. Nothing ever ruined it. You still have the track and the horses.

I think this is one of the greatest lines I have ever read here. Maybe nyra could use it for a new catchphrase.

Oh Cardus... why have you abandoned us when we so desperately need you?

Can't wait to get up there tomorrow!
Arrive on Saratoga island at 2pm
Cab to Saratoga Harness at 3pm for 4pm post
Drink some 1.00 happy hour PBR's
Bet some harness and Del Mar
Cab to see the King's show at the Parting Glass
Cab to Duo for some scallops and sushi.
Cab back to Adirondack Inn to bust up fridays card.

Now that's a good day!

Never say never about this statement ....... wouldn't be surprised if they "outlaw" this in the future especially with ALL those food trucks

I've stayed at the Adirondack quite a few years on and off and always enjoyed it. They are very nice.

I got married at Saratoga 15 years ago. My wife has never gone back, so I haven't been home for a wedding anniversary ever. It's always Whitney weekend. Never been an issue. I go to Saratoga, that's what I do. If I didn't, I'm dead and gone.

HHH. Good point. There is a lot of concern about liabilities in our Mid-Atlantic are and that was a big reason DEL and PARX started restricting what people could bring. From what I was told there were some lawsuits about people who brought their own alcohol to the track and then had terrible outcomes.

It's a weird world. If I was to go to Saratoga and get all hammered and drive and kill somebody, that's a bad thing. It would be my fault. However, now they sue the track when they had nothing to do with it.

It may happen. However I think it may be more a question of liability rather than just trying to increase sales.

One thing I've always loved about the Adirondack is the pool. Nothing like a dip after a day at the track.

I always stay there. Love the place and the owners. They also shuttle you to the track and pick you up afterwards.

The killers row of vendors and booths and hawkers as you pass their gauntlet to methodically get to Valhalla sucks big time. My wife and I ignore everyone of them that cheapen and degrade the walk. Then once we cleans ourselves of the riff raff and cross the wooden threshold of the historic, sacred realm we forget about it all. Good thing too.
