Default Saratoga So Far

I thought today's card was like a carnival ride. Like tuna fishing. There were obvious, not so obvious and completely a surprise.

I saw some people hit some good stuff, but they had it. I got brushed up close on some nice things, but still resulted in losers. It was really an interesting day.

Nicest thing was the big fields. That really changed my mind-set. We've become so used to 7 or 8 horse fields. 14 is almost an overload. We don't know what to do.

I'll give the racing office an a+ on this card. It was tough, for sure and maybe a bunch of us lost money, but it was a good card. There was a bunch of stuff to play. It was a challenge. Plus for those who did win, the payoffs were excellent.

Previously 0/74 Mott with a 2yo FTS, Pletcher at $14 with a 2yo FTS...

Now where do we catch Zito, Albertrani, and Shug with these...?

Yes, picked that up after Friday and altered course yesterday and had some seriously live horses at big prices in the mix. Unfortunately I trifecta'ed when I should have exacta'ed and Super'ed when I should have tri'ed. Ended up leaving a lot on the table. With things like this, even is only a race away.

This is big game fishing at it's best.

I assume you mean the Servis horse in the Sanford. John doesn't go to Saratoga lightly. I assumed he had a horse and he did. Being in Philly, he has a lot of options to ship to.

Grade I is different . There's even favoritism in hell. Track changed today but 2 good days of bias to watch for later in the meet

It is absurd to suggest that the rules should be any different for a Grade I race than a $5K claimer at Aqueduct in January, and flies in the face of the true problem with stewards, consistency.

It is time for the stewards to start enforcing herding and if they do they will have a lot less problems with having to even make these kind of decisions.

The CCA Oaks was an absolute no-brainer DQ. The one in the Sanford was a little closer but was still the right call.

Pretty funny that Pletcher has three wins through three days and two came via DQ while the other one was a seemingly DOB 6-1 2-year-old.

Mott came to play.

about 25 years ago there was a hoss called Concorde Bound. He was a Crack sprinter from Generazio). He won a $100,000 stake at Suffolk Downs going 6 furlongs. Really big purse for a sprint race back then. They took him down and sent that $60,000 winners purse and watched head on down the road. He took his hosses, left, and never came back. I don't know that this is relative, but when I see a hoss come down in a big race, I think of this. I can remember my dad winning a race when i was real young, with a hoss called Night of Errand at scarborogh or Northhampton. there was big time screaming about a foul, my dad said Peter Allen is one of the stewards. We ain't comin down.. we didn't.
