Default Golden Gate Debacle

All this hype for the Pick 6 mandatory payout to actually brings some positive attention to that dump and what do they do? Take the 10th and 12th races off the turf "for safety reasons" AFTER the Pick 6 pool closes. What's even worse is their Twitter account and track feed can't be bothered to tell people whether or not those become ALL legs. So people who invested millions of dollars into this pool can just twist in the wind for all they care. If they don't give everyone ALL, it's straight up theft, but even if they do, this is criminal incompetence across the board. An absolute embarrassment.

Their press Twitter account @GGPublicity gave out the info, and an apology, at 8:58.

I feel your pain regardless.

Feel like there's more to this story...if jocks are refusing to ride it sure seems like they are trying to make a point. I'm.not sure the course became unsafe coincidentally for the final 2 turf races on the final day of meet coinciding with probably the biggest handle day possibly ever for ggf..the whole thing smells

Last race winner Golden Ocean by Golden Balls. Somebody robbed the Glendale Train and they made off with the gold.
This really smells bad.

It hasn't rained a drop in the area in the last 6 weeks, so it certainly wasn't slippery (although removing the races from turf to rubber certainly was).

Wow, I am actually glad I didn't play this now. I saw the ALLs in the payouts in the charts and didn't know what the hell happened.

From what i just read, the jocks told management after the 9th that they would not ride in the other turf races. No specific complaint was given tho.

A shame. Was a bad PR situation and completely avoidable. With no rain or other circumstances, a turf course doesn't become unsafe overnight. I'd be surprised if this was a shock to any of the front-side..

What interest and good things they did with this wager was quickly squashed. Don't think people will be in any hurry to get involved next time. Avoidable.

They issued an apology today, several days later. Really didn't explain anything, just said "Sorry, our bad".

Curious was why it won't happen again and any steps taken to prevent it. PR is a mess on this.

I do think these bets are detrimental. The low increment causes the lower bankroll player to participate, yet gives them only a lottery-style chance to reap the rewards. Dan Borislow was a gòod example (RIP), he went in with a big ticket. He gathered up a whole lot of $10 daily tickets that could have been churned in WPS and EX bets.

Seth has a good handle on it, going for the conso's. However, the game is pushing the bettors toward horizontal wagering at the expense of churn. I think to the deteiment.

I ddn't think it's changed much, but the average person used to bet $200 on a day at the races. If you lock up 1/3 of your bankroll on a horizontal wager, that precludes playing other races. I think if I was a track working with that $200/day patron, I'd want to get them vertical and give them 10 events to play. A couple of cashed tickets turns that $200 bet to $500 and gives them a better chance at success than horizontals.

I agree it's better than the lottery, but does it really support the handle ?
