got hooked into singeling her on saturday, and if she didn't retire after that performance she would have been faded from here on out. -bt- |

Glad they made the decision. But, I'm also glad they ran her as a 4 and 5YO.

Not convinced she was finished. I'm one to believe the horse is peculiar as all get out and was a creature of habit.
Nevertheless was a solid career.

Is this simply a case of a horse that has "it" in the mornings still, but for one reason or another isnt really worried about hitting the finish line first anymore?
If such a thing even exists....

Prefers a woman on her back. Preferably one named Rosie.

Agreed but missing the 2016 breeding season is a 7 figure mistake

I doubt Ron Winchell is beating himself up over that.

Owning 50% of a stallion that produces 30 mil a year after year helps. Nonetheless one would think a lesson has been learned. This mare hadnt been "herself" for awhile, very sporting to give her a chance to reclaim her quality and finish her career on top. Nobody is keeping score nor suggesting Ron Winchell is distraught with missing a season. Just a observation it was the wrong decision which it turned out to be.

The jock didn't do her any favors... Why woukd you fight with her instead of letting her run the way she wanted. First thing I would have asked the jock woulda been " what the **** were you doin out there you stupid little Bastid ?"

To be fair to Geroux, people have been making the observation that letting a horse that wants to go just run zaps less energy than fighting the horse likely well before the Roman's were racing in chariots, yet today jocks at racetracks everywhere seemingly still haven't figured this out.

So what you are suggesting is she never got better? she lost to some ordinary G1 talent IMO. GMD, Wedding Toast, Call Pat, Sheer Drama? Have a heart she was electric , she beat U Forever like a bad habit. Got Lucky? Really ?

She was done racing and her trainer is nit exactly the standard for bringing them back once they have lost form,, A case can be made he is the worst at returning them to form. This was a special animal in IMO in hands that never gave her the chance to be elite. I get I am bias, but IMO she was extraordinary and her record doesnt remotely reflect her talent

Songbird is good, but is beating up on nothing and has now missed by far the 2 biggest races for 3yr old fillies so far. I want go see her beat Carina Mia.... I dont think she can. With that said Songbird>Untapable as far as I'm concerned. |
