2016 Final ROI
The final ROI stats are in for 2016 and they include the Breeders Cup. Since 2009 when I took over this task I have always gone from our start of the year, up to and including the Cup. Here is what I tabulated. After 51 weeks, 3 players achieved a positive Return on Investment. Joly B finishes 3rd with a profit on the year of $61 and a 1.25 ROI which included the best hit of the year on March 25th of $1724. Joly actually fell into negative territory toward the end but rallied in the stretch to become a moneymaker for the second time. Criminal Type takes 2nd with a profit of $786 and an ROI of almost 15%. CT had the 3rd best game of the year on 1/23 with a return of $1179. Criminal Type has finished with a plus ROI 3 times in 2010, 2011 and 2016. The overall winner in 2016 was also our Gallivan Cup winner Ruffian with a profit of $1455 and a stellar ROI of 27%. Ruffian also had a positive ROI in 2011 and this year gives her two. Well done Ruffian and kudos to the other two moneymakers. It is not an easy task over 50+ weeks at a multitude of tracks. Props to Indian Hemp also who had the second best day of the year on 6/11 with a $1542 return. Ruffian also was the Leader of the Pack with 9 winning days, a new record. Criminal Type has 7 winning days, Real Quiet 6, Cruzan 5 and NJ Stinks added 4. 12 players qualified and everyone had at least one win. 5 players showed up at the tellers window all 51 weeks. Ruffian, Criminal Type, Joly B, Real Quiet and RYonker but thanks go out to all who played even a little. It makes the competition bettor. The best win percentage was registered in order by Ruffian, Criminal Type, Real Quiet and Cruzan. The best "in the money" percentage went to Digger, Real Quiet, Swedejxn and Plenilune. I have not transfered the 2016 ROI to the "lifetime" section yet but I will tell you that Digger after 447 weeks still has a positive ROI. This is no small feat and deserves a "well done". Once again in 2017 the pressure is on you Digger <grin>. As for "most wins", I still lead with 41. Ruffian has 40 but has played 62 less weeks and Criminal Type has 36 wins with the same weeks played as Ruffian. Another "well played" to Ruffian and Criminal Type. The best overall "win percentage" goes to Ruffian, Criminal Type and NJ Stinks.
For fun, I am going to list those who have played in the past. If anyone knows them or is in contact with anyone please ask them to stop by. We will leave the light on for you. Here goes. Digger, Husker Princess, NJ Stinks, Dance Smartly, Little Watermelon (LW), Myrtle, Ruffian, Joly B, Criminal Type, Whykickamoocow, Real Quiet, Swedejxn, Albright Emmylou, El Prado, Plenilune, Dapplehorse, Cruzan, GotaDunQH, Arletta (Into the Mystic), Wando, Roamin, QTFeather 2000, Don Guido, RYonker, Indian Hemp, HowlingWolfSports, SuaveFancyNFast, Macksa 1, John Sevideo, SkipAway78, RocknHorse, Forego, Final Turn, Tiger Rose, BettoWin, King Chile, Peaches, GoForGin, John Halvorson, Kaz, Easy Goer Otis, Lap520 and Arsignman. At the end of 2016 only one player still has a positive ROI and that is Digger. After 8 plus years, and Digger was there in 2009, he has an ROI of 5.43% and has a profit of $1176. Way to go Digger. The closest current players to the break even point are Ruffian and Real Quiet. Indian Hemp is technically number two, moving up with a bullet, but with a limited sample. At the moment Real Quiet has registered 41 ROI wins with Ruffian a nose back at 40 and Criminal Type a length back at 36. Joly (aka Jacques Who 117 starts...6-24-18) B has a safe lead with 45 second place finishes. The best winning percentage goes to Ruffian at 11.46% and the best percentage in hitting the points board goes to Digger who cashes in on the ROI 1 out of every 3 weeks. After 396 weeks we have wagered $642,892 and gotten back $497,691. Over the 396 weeks 43 different players have made some wagers. Lets see if all 43 can show up one week this year cause I know Plenilune loves a challenge <grin>.

Real Quiet, your efforts above are so much more than I deserve. Still, I thank you very much and will buy you a beer or two if I ever get the chance! |
