5th Oak Tree
There is a filly in this race that was one of my favorite horses at the Fasig Tipton Calder sale. Her name is Super Freaky. She is a really nice filly. She has a beautiful way of going. In her debut, she didn't fire at all. Something must have happened that day. She took 4 1/2 months off after that race. There was definitely something bothering her that day. I saw her work at the sale and I can assure you that she can run much better than she ran in her debut. The big negative today is that she may not be 100% fit to run long off the long layoff. Her debut was a 5 furlong race. Today she's running a mile off a 4 1/2 month layoff. I'm hoping that she's so much better than these horses that she'll win even if she's a little short.

She seemed to lose interest around the turn but Gomez asked and she woke up. Future looks very promising.
Thanks for the tip. |

Anyway, today she ran the way I thought she was capable of running. I knew she didn't fire first time out. Coming down the stretch that day, she didn't look anything like she looked in her workout at the sale. At the sale, she worked an 1/8th of a mile in :10 3/5, but more importantly was the way she moved. She had a beautiful stride. I loved her. I wish we would have bought her. The price was reasoable. She was a $220,000 buy-back. I'm guessing that she ended up selling for somewhere in the $210,000-$250,000 range. I can't remember why we ended up passing on her. I think our vet saw something he didn't like on the x-rays. |
