Default Friday's Card at Churchill?

OK, a couple decent stakes, one nice allowance and....

one $5K claimer

two $10K claimers

one $20-$25K claimer

one $45K claimer

two Maiden claimers

Look, racing sucks everywhere, I'm not blaming Churchill. I'm just surprised. At least I won't have to hurry to get there for the 11:20 first post.

Thanks for putting that up, I can't get the entries at work. Looks like I am saving myself an hour and a half drive, I don't think it's worth it for that card...

I agree. Unreal the day before the Breeders Cup they have races like this. Churchill is a joke when it comes to low level claiming races.

Ya know, I guess they burnt themselves out of 2YO races due to Sunday. It would be nice to have one or two solid 2YO MSWs and one would think BC Friday would be a day many high profile connections would be around and like to win a race. I think the 2YO Day is a novel sounding idea, but 7 or 8 full fields of maidens makes for a hard day and can have a negative and diluting effect on future cards. I credit them for a new idea, and am not saying it is a bad one, but the timing may have been poor in this year's case.

Couldnt agree more. The card on Sunday should be the card for this Friday. Sometimes I dont know what they are thinking. They try to be innovative but sometimes they out think themselves. What pisses me off about Churchill is that they never ask for anyone's opinion.

I've always said this about CD. Most schizophrenic track ever.. One race, $75,000 N3X OPT. CL., next is a $5,000 restricted claimer. I can rarely make sense of it.

No kidding. Churchill has the money but they are so freaking tight it isnt funny. I wish they would combine the NYRA's ability to put on a good card with the ability of CDSI to make money.

To be fair, the Friday card at Belmont the day before BC was poor last year. They couldn't run turf due to weather, which hurt them, but it was still a poor card save the 2YO stake ( won by Bluegrass Cat ).

Looks like they're trying to replace quality with quantity--12 races, but most of them stinkers. Oh well, I've got a couple of tickets to sell. I guess I'll spend the first half of the day on that.

Yeah but a poor card at Belmont is a good card at Churchill. That is the biggest difference.

I was looking forward to Friday's card...not anymore. I can spend a lot of time at the track without betting but this card barely seems worth looking at.

Oh well.

Yeah, a lot of these races suck conditions-wise but at least they're filling. They seem to be having problems filling anything but NYB races in NY these days... it's going to be a long, miserable winter.

BC Cards are always bookended by days with stakes ( often three ). I am not sure this is a requirement of BC to a hosting track but it is certainly tradition.

I wasn't trashing Churchill, and stated as much, just voicing my disappointment. I had hoped it would be better. That's all.

Couldn't agree more. A very sub-standard card for the day prior to an event of this magnitude. Two stakes races is OK, but I would like to see more 2nd to 3rd level allowance races.

Smaller tracks like Lone Star cannot pull off this, because you don't have shippers. Like Belmont and Santa Anita, Churchill should have offered better fare than it is offering.

ok is anyone taking in the fact that the keeneland meet just ended as well?

I know what would solve Churchill's problem of filling allowance races.

Polytrack
