The BC and ESPN are doing a lot better job of promoting than NBC has done in the past. I have heard a lot of ads on the New Haven radio station (WPLR) and they are a sponsor on an NYC NPR station (WFUV). And ESPN themselves are running a lot of ads.

Cali OTB Breeders' Cup commercials
We have a pretty nice OTB in our San Francisco Bay area town.
It's been really cool this week hearing A BUNCH of radio commercials advertising this weekend's happenings at the OTB with regard to Breeders' Cup Day. I don't radio channel surf much anymore, so I'm not certain how widespread the advertising happens to be. I've lost track of constantly changing "radio format" evolution of the past four to five years, but I think this station airing the OTB commercials would be classified as "adult contemporary" targeting the 25 to 45 age demographic. "The 80's, 90's and today" thing. Anyhow, I can't remember a time in my life I have heard so many commercials for a thoroughbred racing event. Anytime. Anywhere. The commercials sound very professional by the way. They don't seem to be locally produced, but I don't really know. My guess is similar commercials must be playing in other markets? |
