Default the rime of the ancient horseplayer

I'm not sure what albatros I shot with my cross-bow
but someone has deemed fit to put one around my neck
been looking foward to this Breeder's Cup for 3 years now
and when it gets here and I'm too sick to get off of the sofa
the way I sound, no one will even come and visit, for fear of the plague
woe is me~
horses, horses, everywhere...

I second Theraflu. Plus it makes you sleep like a log.

Lay in a supply of occillocosinum (except I CANNOT spell it) for next time you feel a flu coming on-- if you catch it early enough, take the stuff and it will kick up your immune system right away. It's got dead viral stuff in it so it gets your body's white blood cells revved up quickly. I love the stuff. I also like Airborne.

For now, lots of fluids! You can also wet a pair of socks and freeze them, then put them on and crawl under a lot of blankets. Your feet being cold will make your body crank up its temperature, and that can help kill off the virus- basically inducing fever, which is what your body does to kill viruses. Keeping the feet cold will make the body work harder to raise the temperature.

Yeah, I must admit I've never actually TRIED it, seeing as how my feet are ice blocks even when I'm healthy, but it makes sense to me.

I went for a Hep A shot today (going to Argentina in a few weeks) and my doctor asked (again, since I saw her two days ago for the riding injury) if I wanted a flu shot and I blithely said, "No... I don't get the flu often and I figure I'm still young enough for my immune system to handle getting walloped once in a while." I so hope the Winter Flu Gods do not choose to take vengeance on me... last time I got the flu was in 2000... I'm sorry, Winter Flu Gods! I'm sorry! Please accept this can of chicken soup as an offering...

it's funny you say that, GR
because my Mom called me up a couple of weeks ago
and said I should get a flu shot and I just laughed
and said that I could probably handle the superflu from "The Stand"
if it ever came around, since I never get it
even when everybody else does
guess the Gods were not too happy about that
this is the worst I've felt in a long time

interesting that you said that about inducing a fever...i read not long ago that the worst thing you can do if you start running a low grade fever is attack it right away--it's your bodies first reaction to a virus, and is the initial attack on said virus by your body and immune system. you then attack that which will help to heal you--whoops!
