Default ok BC bettors help me out with this....

How in the world do some of these horses win these races??? I cashed 3 tix all day and they were on both juvy horses place on octave w/p on street sense and the ex. but:
1)FM turf ok i told everyone in box the ob was a monster but satwa queen just didnt do much so i can live with that one ok to get beat by a great one
2)sprint- how in the hell does thors echo win that race? last out was a 116 which i think was one of his best ever how does he not bouce? was so frazzled about this race didn't even bet.
3)mile-miesque approval i saw this horse run at Keen and he just didnt look like he did much that day what did i miss?
4)Distaff- played spun sugar b/c i figured would be won by a horse close to lead but not on it round pond really good horse but her odds were pretty good so i figured a lot of people missed here. To add onto the suckiness of this race the tragedy with Pine Island really just put a real cloud over whole thing. Yes, i did say tragedy b/c i really think it is.
5)turf- not too upset with this as had red rocks in ex but scorpion/cacique didnt run a lick i really liked scorpion 2nd off layoff and appeard to be a good horse on paper with back class
6)classic- i thought invasor was sick and missed training was stunned to see 11 run by berni like that b4 race went off thought 6/5 was a gift on berni but bet prmium tap wp

My ? is if you picked some of these long shots what made you pick them? What part of there PP's made you go "yes, here is a good bet"

any help would be appreciated as i am realitively new to the game thnaks

The question about the winner of the sprint is easily answered by the unfortunate bias favoring the inside on the dirt track today. As you can see,the top 2 posts came in regardless of moderate ability.

I too am perplexed by some of todays winners but in certain races you need to look for value. That is how I think some of these people hit these races.

Never bet the favorite. Never bet horses that don't have the right beyer figures..Just look for value around 5-1 to 30-1 and make sure they have a legitimate chance.

In the distaff you had the two favs pull up so that explains the long shot. But the Distaff you had 13 Grade I winners. Not shocked at all that Round Pound won. Especially being on the rail. The mile is what gets me. I cant figure that one out. Invasor only missed a few hours of training. He really wasnt sick to the point where he missed days of training. I thought the post would get him.
