Odd that Baffert chooses the Grade 2 Alysheba over the Grade 1 CD Sprint. Maybe he figures the two turn cutback is a better way to get to the Met Mile, which has to be the goal.

Somewhere last week in a tweet or a press release I read that McKinzie was shipping to CD with both the Alysheba and the Met Mile on the agenda.

Perhaps Baffert is still stinging from Congaree's odds-on defeat in the 2003 Met Mile, which came on the heels of a drastic cutback in the Carter after just missing in the Big Cap.

Not saying he can’t win...but Lexitonian in the Pat Day Mile seems like a bit much for him off a long layoff.
