Default Maximum Security - Country House

I won't tell you what I really think of the ridiculous decision by the stewards because they'd ban me from this forum for life. ABSURD!!!

Going to be lots of angry discussion about that one. I went from having a potential exacta win and winning on the day to losing a bit. Recouped a little because I had Country House to Place. Whole thing didn't seem to make sense. Country House was the beneficiary, but I couldn't see that he was interfered with at all. Oh well, just another one that got away!!

And if MS goes on to win the next two, we've been robbed, everyone will be robbed of a deserving TC winner.

I have been a Country House fan early on. I will not differ from his ability. Now that Flavien Prat is the pilot I think he will be a lot closer than usual. If the pace is contested at fast fractions I can see CH benefitting from it and with Prat on him that makes him dangerous. Hopefully cashing $$$$$.. This is where my money is going. Good luck to all.

As usual when you look long you pick wrong.. I did that here in the ROI contest but I actually went to Favorites and made my bet on CH and picked up $536. If I did not change my mind in ROI I would have over $13,000 in that contest.

Default Regret: Not Just A Famous Filly

It’s called the
“WOULDA SHOULDA COULDA SYNDROME “

And oh how many times I have suffered from it with no relief

I think the worst one was when my friend who used to produce ABC sports
called me because he was going to be at the track
to ask if I wanted him to make a wager for me On the big race

When I told him my three favorites he just laughed
because they were all 20 to 1 but that never stopped me before

So he asked did I want to make a bet or not

After a moment I thought about it and Decided not to bother
After all with three long shots like that ~
what are the odds that they would come in

He called me Monday morning with a mixture of laughter +sorrow
My three horses came in the exact order I had them = paid $6000

A lot of those old racetrack and gambling sayings are gems for sure. "The Pace is the Race," " Scared Money Never Wins, etc.", but really hard not to study long in the Kentucky Derby. Some years you might have a Justify or a California Chrome and the like and it seems to be a bit easier, but even then, it can be tough to sort out which one of the 19 others is going to finish in the money. I read somewhere, probably DRF or Blood Horse that Bob Baffert said there was great parity this year and he was right and I think that might have been part of the problem. MS was in my estimation, the best of the lot, but he wasn't so much better that he could put the others away easily. Lots of frustration by people that had him to win and I can understand that because I am one of them, but in a sport where you're going to be wrong most of the time, I am not having that much trouble moving on to the next race.

What happened yesterday was wrong. It will stain the history of horse racing for generations to come. Too much political correctness in sports

We don't have to worry about MS and the Preakness. He isn't going.

Doesn't matter. Country house will not win the triple crown. Unless of course the stewards set him up for another controversial win.
MS would have been a better contender for the TC

The final result was shocking...last night, I was very upset with the DQ. However, in the light of a new day, after having read so much from so many, watching videos, and viewing photos, sadly I have to agree with the DQ. Mostly, but for the Grace of God, War of Will managed to avoid falling, and there was no tragedy from this race.

The worst part is for the connections of Maximum Security, incredibly sad and a punch to the gut. The best part is everyone came home safe.

A different angle of the “incident”, pretty shocking to watch:

First of all, I blame those responsible for not prepping the track properly. It wasn't raining at the time of the race. How can a horse in the lead interfere with those behind him? At the first call Maximum security was in the lead and never looked back.
Furthermore, the horse is not a human being but he's sure smarter than human beings. Why? Simple...he saw a pool of water and jumped away from it because it scared him. Humans would just run into the pool of water and drowned
