Default What Percentage

Of the money in the pools, lets say WPS, Exactas and Tris, is from people who strictly gamble the odds and numbers; in other words, they don't ever look at a racing form?

I'll tell ya, I see a good number of action junkies doing that every time I am at the track - simulcast facilities.

We used to do that for fun as kids using names and numbers, but I don't do it now. My dad would give $25 to whoever's horse finished ahead and if the horse actually WON, it'd go up to $100. LOL

if I like the 5 or 7, I automatically play a small tri/exa ticket with either of them keyed, with the 1,5,7 behind (mom's birthday that hits at an amazing clip)....

from my experience, they are also usually the ones who are screaming "THEY WANT ME TO HAVE THAT FOUR HOSS! THEY WANT ME TO HAVE THAT FOUR HOSS" as the 2/5 shot comes thundering down the stretch in a 5-horse claimer at calder and then jump up and down and boast about how THEY "KNEW IT!"

Their losing tickets slammed on the table next to you are usually $2 win tickets on the chalk -- so I would imagine that they make up a small percentage of the actual totals.

Though in a place like Portland, OR when I was hanging out at Portland Meadows -- a couple of action junkies with $5 win wagers can at times early in the card mean the difference between 7-1 and 5-2 on your horse so it's all relative haha

Hey it's their money. I see people spend money on things I'd never own or do. Does that make them crazy? These people have a method that works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. Do we all make enough money off the bets we make to quit our jobs? I think not. I have a friend who writes down the opening, middle and closing odds and he shows a profit every year.

So...if I went to the window after hearing her say that and dropped $20 on SS to win, would that be considered "handicapping"?

The first time I was at Agua Caliente our horse was 99 to 1 and I put a $20 to win on him and he went to 4/5.
