Curlin-Rachel's Valentina colt in Keeneland September Sale
I guess I shouldn't be surprised and yet I kinda was. With Samantha Nicole, I get trying to make up her $700,000 cost by selling her yearlings (like the now-gelded Walker's Bullet), but I guess I thought Rachel's direct descendants would race for Stonestreet, esp. one by Curlin. Hmm. SN's yearling Speightstown filly doesn't appear to be in the sale. Maybe Barbara's selling the colts.

Commercial operation. Sell the colts; Keep the fillies.

I know, I just--I guess it was the Rachel of it all that made me think they might not. Just letting sentimentality get in here. I know Barbara Banke's bought into a Stonestreet colt after a sale before. I'm sure it's not standard procedure, and I haven't seen this one. I'm curious what prompts it. Obviously this one has the breeding but a lot of their yearlings do.
