![]() Plenilune is taking us to Kentucky Downs in Franklin, Kentucky for what promises to be a challenging day of turf racing.
Please have your selections for the Points Contest posted on this thread not later than first post of 12:15 PM Central time. We don't visit Kentucky Downs very often. As you watch its races, you will notice that it is more of a European style course, with an undulating turf surface and a shape that is not just an oval. When the track was first built, it was called the Dueling Grounds. That's because it is located adjacent to the Kentucky-Tennessee state line, and in the early 1800's when dueling was legal in Kentucky but illegal in Tennessee, many disputants from Tennessee (Sam Houston was one of many) came to this location to settle their differences. Good luck to all and thank you to Plenilune for scoring. |
