Default ROI Results Breeders Cup 2019 @ Santa Anita

One more year in the books and a pretty interesting Breeders Cup 2019. While it was fun to
watch, our wagering on the two day card left a little to be desired EXCEPT for one player who
sprinted his way to a convincing ROI win.Cal 828 takes the Breeders Cup ROI trophy. Cal
played the BC Sprint to perfection and hit both a nice trifecta and a superfecta too. The
4-6-7-5 combination featuring Mitole (a true champion) returned $496.75 and a well deserved
win to Cal. Congrats on the win. Nicely played. Enjoy your freshening as we take a week off
to recoup. As Don stated on another post please add any comments or suggestions and if
anyone can cajole a new player to the group please do. We can always work around posting
picks until they are confirmed to the site. And thanks to Mr. Byk and the Derby Trail for
letting us use the site as a home. Following are the two day unofficial results. If there are
any errors or ommisions please let me know.

WIN... Cal828... +$296.75... R8 $5 tri p/w 4//6//7 $29.55 X 10... $295.50
50 cent super p/w 4//6//7//5 $40.25 X 5... $201.25

Thanks. I really wanted to play a Jackpot High 5, but that would have probably taken my whole wad of imaginary cash for a very high risk bet, if there is such a thing for imaginary cash. Unlike you I don't score very high on the clairvoyance scale. I do think there is a High 5 with my name on it, but that is probably truly California Dreamin.

Thanks. I didn't play so great during the year, but that was a good way to end it and maybe there is something to build on for the future. We horseplayers could hardly carry on, if we weren't eternally optimistic even after some pretty good whuppins, as they say in my neck of the woods.

Cal, that ROI win was the perfect way to end our contest year. You received a very generous return on your super play, probably due to the inclusion of #7, whom many players overlooked, and the absence of Catalina Cruiser from any part of the super. I truly enjoy seeing a well structured ticket.

Again, my congratulations on what I think is an auspicious win as we look forward to next year. You have already given us fair warning to watch out for your dramatic leap up the standings.

Real Quiet, as the contest year comes to a close, I want to express my sincere thanks and admiration for your conscientious ROI scores and droll commentary. I often finish reading it with a smile even if the score next to my name is zero.

Thanks, I hope I can walk the walk as well as talk the talk. I do seem to have more of a clue about what I'm doing than I did in a goodly part of this past contest.

As for RQ, I too have grown to fully appreciate what he does, especially when he has to figure out complicated exotic bets after some scratches. I imagine that a lot of my bets have taken him more time than all the rest of you put together. I apologize for that, but I think that some of us like you and I Joly and RQ and a few others like the challenge of the exotics although I have to say that the straight bet players probably have the best approach to wagering and as proof of that I offer Roamin's outstanding play and Ruffian too.

Way to hang in there and give the group a little bit of credibility. Blanco for all the rest. Nice call!!! The BC cards with all the unknowns coming in is truly the toughest nut to crack all year.

Great job cal828 congratulations!

I second that thanks to Mr. Byk. You have allowed are little group the pleasure of continuing to play the ROI and Points contests. I know a lot of Derby Trail members check out these threads and we welcome you to play either or both contests. It would be great fun to see these contests grow more competitive as well as learn other strategies of handicapping.

Thanks and thanks also. Breeder's Cup races are hard, but I think I played one of the easier ones, especially after the scratch of Imperial Hint. Breeder's Cup is usually a parade of long shots and even the races in which the chalk prevailed, there were usually long shots underneath them making it tough to hit the vertical bets.
