Default Thumpin'

ok...I'll admit that I don't live in Texas, and have more than my share of trying to translate some of the lingo in to plain ol' New Yawkese, so that I can understand what is being said.
It took me a while to figure (figger) out what tear-or-issstss meant. Terrorists.
And new-cue-lar really means nuclear. I get that one now.
So now, for Pgardn, or anyone else that lives in the Lone Star state, maybe you can help with the translation of the word "thumpin'".
Is it like, "Thumpin' ith happenin' in Iraq that ah don't have a clue bout?"
Or is it, "Ah was thumpin' it whall Laura was raggin' it"?
Or does it mean that something that Nancy Pelosi did under the table while they were having lunch today...you know...so "er, um, we could be friends now that Donnie's gone."
Does this mean another ex-southern governor will be sayin', "Ah did not have six waith that wimman."

Well, Georgie said he got a thumpin' on Tuesday. If one of you Texans can translate that into regular (reglar) good ol' New Yawk speak, it would be much 'preechaiated, if'n yer willin' to do the translatin'.

btw, I think Thumper was one of the nicest rabbits I've ever seen ( Ah've aiver sain). One of Bambi's good buddies.

ps...Ah hope his thumpin' was a goodun.

Apology for the double post, but here's another statement that I've been having a problem translating for a while:
If a "pretend cowboy" scripts a stage act wherein he states, "Ahm a ewe nighter, not a de-vide-her", is he talking about sheep after the sun sets, and claiming to protect them? Or is he really a "de-vide-her", whatever that is.

Ahm a guessin' he's denying being a de-vide-her, after all.
Perhaps some citizens might make it clear to him which one he is...or, er, ummm, maybe they did.

Do people (folks) really speak that way at Andover without risking getting laughed off the campus?
Where's my megaphone? Where's my clothes?

I think you are just making funny of Texans. We all know NY people are so much brighter than everyone. Just admit it, you are the typical Democrat that is trying to tell the rest of us how stupid George Bush is. I can't stand the guy, but I wouldn't go making fun of the way the guy talks considering he is smart enough to win the most powerful job in the world. Lot's of rich kids out there that have tried and failed.

Is is any different for Hillary Clinton who like GWB couldn't get elected dog catcher if not for their family members?

McCain or Vilsack will be the next President.

Is a blumpkin an in-bred, second generation one from the pumpkin side of the family? Ya know, Uncle Earl Pumpkin and Auntie Mae Blunkie when they got to thumpin' in the back seat of Bubba's borrowed cheviee maliboo?

You want to know what a blumpkin is, DTS? Please tell me you're kidding... lol.

By the way, the majority of Texans that I know personally do not speak that way.

Ewww....those suthners have strange bedroom (or bathroom) practices.
Live and learn.
Here I thought it had somethin' to do with Mrs. Blum and Mr. Pumkin.

Anyway...your secret's safe. I don't think I'll be trying that one anytime soon.

(shakes head), (chuckles), (runs to pocelain patty to have a good hurl).

Where can I rent a video?

Trust me, THIS southerner has no desire to participate in that. There are MANY other more interesting things to do...

Hey... that's taking it a step too far...

W has definitely not been the best of Presidents, but he deserves more respect than that.

Cajun,
I didn't say he got one..heck, I really didn't even know what it meant. Baba was saying that word. And I personally don't think Balleto would know anything about it either. She is a very sweet and knowledgeable young lady.
She deserves much more respect than having someone start rumors about her. I would never!
If Dubbya does those kinds of things, that's really none of my business.
I never claimed that he did. again, I would never!
ps...thanks for the translations. What's a "ewe-night-her"?

Considering that I quoted your post, I know what you said. It was disrespectful. It's all fun and games, but when you start talking about the President in those terms, I just think it's wrong. Sorry, but that's JMO. Anyway, it was my fault for providing the definition... I guess I shouldn't have opened that can of worms. Carry on...

Well, again, thanks for your translations.
I guess you know what I said, and didn't say.
I didn't bring a word into this that I later found to be quite disgusting, nor did I claim that someone that didn't respond to this thread would provide an explanation.
If slandering people is "fun and games"..leave me out.
I started this thread because I wondered what President George W Bush meant when he said on Wednesday in his press conference, "We got a thumpin'".
You can spin my words anyway you want, but the question remains unanswered, despite the vulgarity.
And, yes, I really DO have difficulty understanding a "southern" accent, especially an affected on from a President that was born in Connecticut, and attended college in Mass.
There seems to be a bit of a problem when some people try to "put me on".

Carry on. But not "on" me.

DTS... did you say this?

"Baba,
Who gave Dubbya the blumpkin? I thought Laura was out of town and Monica was at the orthodontists. Was it Condi or Carl?
Can't wait til it hits you tube."

I thought the "Who gave Dubbya the BLUMPKIN" part was a bit extreme. This was AFTER you knew what a blumpkin was, so whatever...

Cajun,
I asked that question because Bababooie said that was what he was talking about. I thought he knew what it meant, as he said he was LMFAO and I had no clue.
Are you doing this to confuse me or just avoid answering my question, "What is a thumpin'?"
