Ok, Gulfstream Park...what about 4-7 and 9-14, skipping the maiden race. That will give us a total of 10.

Alli, I admire your effort in trying to keep our contest card to a workable 10 races, especially when many of the races have extremely full and competitive fields. Gulfstream has put together a superb day of racing.
I would like to point out one of the unintended consequences of skipping a race in the middle of the card. Some of our players [yeah, I'm one of them] enjoy putting ROI wagers together for the so-called horizontal races such as the pick 3 or pick 4. If we eliminate Race 8, we block out any horizontal race that might include Race 8, thereby affecting races 6 through 10 for pick 3's and perhaps even more for pick 4's. I'm not opposed to including a mile race for 3 year old maiden colts at Gulfstream in late February. The one in question has some very nicely bred horses owned by some high profile stables such as Lael, Gainesway, Godolphin and Calumet Farm. We might see a couple of future stakes runners in that field. Just a suggestion. |

I hadn't thought of that, JolyB. Thanks for the insight. So, 5-14, it is!
Good luck everyone! Let me know if you have advice on this for a newbie. |

I understand it is not my decision but thought I would add My Mewsings
BY STARTING WITH R5 YOU ELIMINATE TWO STAKES! HUTCHESON + PALM BEACH STAKES !!! I WOULD LIKE TO SUGGEST STARTING WITH RACE #3 (Hutcheson) |

Okay...got to get the hang of this! So, 12 races is totally okay with everybody? And it's 3-14?

A 12 race card is OK with me when we have one quality graded stakes race after another. Looking forward to Saturday.
