absolutely.
think I saw that Chris K is doing a preview of it tonight on TVG. what a night of racing. the 3YO race is really competitive. in the big one, we get to see the return of a true superstar DM Shicago. everyone, Quarters fan or not, needs to watch him run. hope he is the same as he was when he last ran. as I have posted before, LDS Dash for Dylan is one of my favorites that runs at Los Al. that filly got us last time. tomorrow might be his night, but Im not counting on it. and A Long Goodbye is really good also. a great field. Im tossing This Snow is Cold. Repent |

when they said last week on TVG that he would be there I about fell out of my chair. it kills me that he is within driving distance of me and I cant make it(picking mother up from airport in Houston on Saturday night). you should go man. I just want to see him take on Wave Carver at some point. Repent |

lol, yeah I know the area. Im almost always inclined to stay home and bet from my computer, but I do like going to LS on big race days. when SAM and Fairmount have been your previous "home" tracks, you really appreciate Lone Star. Repent |

Your in Austin right? What do you think about Retama? Driven by it multiple times but have never stopped by to check it out. The same with Sam Houston. Driven by it, but it kinda seems difficult to get to from the freeway. Who knows, I don't know my way around Houston anyway....

ok, Im saying this as someone who loves just about any track. stay away from Manor. I will not even go there to pick up a racing form. for starters, the parking lot is just a bunch of gravel rocks. 2 rusted trash cans with flies greet you as you exit it and then you go into the gates. its 100% outdoors besides this "players club" they are so proud of. reminds me of a small diner in an even smaller town. dont pay the $5 to go in the players club. they have probably 10 monitors mounted against the wall underneath the grandstand with picnic tables to sit at. thats also where the tellers are. no machines that I remember(its been about 6 months since i went there to get a form for Belmont Stakes day). the grandstand is very similar to a small town little league field. its just terrible. I read that the TX legislature made them spend 4.5M earlier in the decade to make it thoroughbred ready. Im wondering where 4.4M of that went b/c its sure not at the track. as for SAM, its fine. not clean like LS, but it at least has a mid-major feel. on the bottom level, there are tables, monitors, and lots of machines. plus a decent players club. bar in the middle with food available also. tellers are centreally located. take stairs or escalators to the top for box and reserved seating. kind of like the 2nd level of LS, just not as big or as nice. but the track itself is nice. long stretch. good turf course.
