Default Where is the respect for Invasor

These three writers, Pricci, Haskin, and Beyer are telling us how bad Godolphin is, but aren't they bringing back the Horse of the Year.

Did the writers miss something or did Invasor just easily handle Bernardini, and he did it off a huge layoff.

Bernardini is no Invasor and these writers instead of giving credit to the Horse of the Year are criticizing the owners.

It sounds like a bunch of people that were made to look stupid when their "superhorse" was beaten by a real superhorse.

It tells me that the general consensus in the industry is that Bernardini was a better horse and that they're disappointed he won't have the chance to prove that. I'm not downing Invasor... he ran a superb race, but I think that Bernardini had a huge chance of improving as a 4 year old, and now we'll never know...

If you are commenting on people's punctuation you really have no life. Find a hobby or something.

Nobody thinks Bernardini is better than Invasor or Discreet Cat. They hyped up Bernardini in order to create a star. He never deserved the hype. I admit, I fell for it too, but he really doesn't have that great of a racing record. He beat a bunch of small fields and got a bunch of tired horses in the Preakness. His one test, he failed.

He was beaten by a horse off a huge layoff, and that horse was trounced by Discreet Cat.

Pricci - "Lost in much of the pre-Classic storyline was a lack of respect for the accomplishments of Invasor. Only after the race did it finally resonate that the young Southern Hemisphere 4-year-old was undefeated in American Grade 1 company, twice overcoming trouble and once surviving the most strenuous stretch duel of the handicap season after first enduring multiple challengers"

Look, I was one of the people who didn't think Bernie had a chance in the BCC. He ran one hell of a race IMO and he didn't appear to be handling the track in the same manner as his other races. I agree that the fields he beat all year were suspect, etc, but he proved more to me by losing in the BCC than he did in any of his other races. It's comical to me that the past month you had been hyping Bernardini and now he's some rat... incredible.

You do it because you are a loser who has no life and has nothing better to do. Just admit it. I come on here about 1/2 hr a day, and you are always here. Probably 10-15hrs a day. Get a hobby.

Invasor got plenty of positive notice once he arrived in the U.S. And of course he was well covered off of Beyer's negative sentiments about his prospects before the Pimlico Special. Haskin researched a great piece on Invasor for more than a months that includes detailed feedback from his original owner whom he had to search two continents to find. He had been at KMc's BEL barn nearly daily for 2 months around Invasor. It ran last month.

Haskin has been writing glowingly about Invasor from day one. Here's a chat from September where Invasor is cited repeatedly as the main danger to Bernardini in the Classic, and at that time expectantly, in the JCGC .

If you think Invasor has been under-appreciated or under-lauded, you just haven't read enough or weren't clued into his story early on. From my own perspective, this is a totally cool horse who I got to be around this spring at McLaughlin's barn and was juiced about since finding about him going into the Dubai race. Talked extensively with McLaughlin about him on ATRAB as well after the World Cup. The 3yo's are always going to be the more 'hyped' stories though, and Bernardini was the natural focus going into Saturday. It's hardly a lack of appreciation for what Invasor is.

That's excellent quality... my motorola cam phone stinks (i850.) It's supposed to be a good one, but it has never taken that kind of pic.

Perhaps it was the photo's subjects that allowed for the quality...
