The theme of discussions for the PacClassic have been that there are no standouts, so why take just the short-priced (albeit logical) players? Tripoli is by Kitten's Joy (!), but seems to be taking advantage of his Tapit dam with his stunning improvement on dirt this summer. He's liable to be the 5th choice on the board, moves inside for a potentially perfect trip after splitting Express Train and Royal Ship in the San Diego and is an ideal price key. Dr Post is an invading fresh face and Jay Privman made a great point Friday on ATR that Pletcher pulled a similar stunt with Vino Rosso in '19, annexing the HOL Gold Cup at Santa Anita ahead of the Breeder's Cup Classic there months later..
