well,
at least your selection was in the same film as the greatest actor to ever live.
The Score.

Edward Norton is the greatest actor to ever be seen on film.
the more I watch his movies, the more I realize its not even close.
he has no peers.

yeah,
his skills have not diminished, but his choices sure have.
he has done just some plain terrible movies with horrible scripts.
sometimes when watching his recent films, all you can think about is how on earth did this great actor ever think this could be a decent film.
same goes for Dinero, chris walken, and dustin hoffman.

yeah,
thats what I mean,
these guys like Pacino and Walken are as good as ever.
do a great job with the terrible roles they choose for themselves.

I guess not everyone can age like Clint Eastwood.
his directorial accomplishments have given him some help in the later years,
but this guy is the master at making good decisions.
he knows when there is a role for him in his films(Unforgiven, Million Dollar Baby) and when there is not(Mystic River, Flags of Our Fathers).

He is the best director alive and still one of the best actors alive.

if I had to rank current actors-
1.Ed Norton
.
.
.
.
.
2.Johhny Depp
3.Leaonardo DiCaprio
4.Tom Hanks
5.Paul Newman(watch his work in Empire Falls- he is as good as ever)

top actresses-
1.Natalie Portman(finest girl on earth probably, but can also act)
2.Julianne Moore
3.Jena Malone
4.Scarlett Johannson
5.Nicole Kidman

Repent,

Norton alltime? C'mon his body of work isn't near long enough.

Leo is one of the current bests. His performance in The Departed deserves an Oscar.

Nicholson deserves some attention here as well.

Hanks is overrated/Spacey is better.

Arguments can be made for others but it will fall on my deaf ears...I love nearly everything that nicholson has done...I can even forgive him for the 'Witches of Eastwick'

Very few actors could've made About Schmidt as brilliant as he did.

2. Jack Nicholson
3. Denzel Washington

Really hard question...I don't know if it's easy to separate actors from their vehicles...good movies make good actors while good actors don't necessarily make good movies...I'll list my personal favorites rather than claim they are the "best":
Male:
1) Anthony Hopkins
2) David Boreanz
3) Richard Burton
4) Roy Dupuis
Female:
1) Sarah Michelle Gellar
2) Alyson Hannigan
3) Merryl Streep
4) Juliette Lewis

I like Nicholson, Deniro, Pacino, but my all time favorite is Christopher Walken.

Oh I didn't think of Anthony Hopkins. He would be in my top 10 as the best. Ya know I LOVE me some David Somer!

The best women would be (not my personal faves but who I would put towards the top:

1. Lauren Bacall
2. Helen Hunt
3. Diane Keaton
4. Rebecca Johnson (you guys may not know her now, but you will!)

I think he is very up and down with some of his performances. Can't get Turner and Hooch out of my memory. Things like that are unforgiveable.
