Default LOL!!! Ny stewards are hysterical!!!

This is hysterical!!
Last week we get a DQ because a horse clearly on her way to victory strikes another horse with the stick.
Today in the 4th race the winner obviosuly fouls the runner up(part of a dead heat) and after posting an inquiry and a jockeys objection. They let it stand, LOL!!
These guys are as inconsistent as any group in the land.

Was real bad, he obviously caused that horse to dead heat. Should have been a change

I'd love to hear the explanation as to why he wasn't dq'd. I mean, if they wanan say it didn't affect the outcome, then you'd have to ask them about Rahy's Appeal and the whip last week. Blatantly took the horses path and stopped his momentum cold. These guys are absolutely comical.

If you showed the two replays of two races, one of Rahy's last week, and one of the race today, and you asked guys who didn't know the outcome of the two races which one came down, and which one stayed up, you'd have an 80% vote that it was the one today.
Same thing happened at the Spa two summers ago.
Smokey Glacken almost out another horse over the rail, who ran 2nd and stayed up. Few days later they had a 1 1/8 NY bred maiden special weight where the winner moved over slightly on a dead horse and they took him down in like two minutes.
These guys make horrible calls then make the next call as a reaction to the outcry on the previous call.
They are absolutely incompetent and unfit to hold their jobs.

I think they wager, they have to, becuase you are right, he clearly fouled him, they were almost even and then all of a sudden he is up 3 lengths.....

Scav,
If they wanna say that Rahy and this horse both woulda won anyway, and leave em both up, that would be slightly less appalling, but at least consistent.
You can't take her down and leve this one up.
By the way, I was talking about horses the other day and how once they got stopped you can't use what they do afterwards as a gauge of how much horse they had. Most of em(espeicaly cheaper ones) will just say screw it and can't restart the engine. the fouled horse may not have won, but he damn sure was gonna be closer than that.
Tossed his head up, and said screw this. They ain't cars.
These guys are a disgrace to the sport.

they all have a tough job considering all the money on the line and ive pretty much seen stews across the country at every track ive ever watched blow calls, even some obvious ones and some more frequent as others but a word of advice if your in the industry DO NOT GET ON THEIR BAD SIDE! life will be very rough for you on the racetrack

I dont think I know this, but who do the Stewards report to. Basically, who is their boss?

They don't really have one, if they did they would be fired.

That is what I was thinking. I like how they do the inquiries in Dubai. They should adopt that style here in the US.

I have zero confidence in the stewards in NY these days. I honestly get the feeling they have no idea what they are looking at and every decision seems to exist in total isolation from every other call. And I say this as someone who has not been involved in a single particularly important ruling over the past year or so.

I don't even feel as though they know for sure which horse ( or horses ) were actually responsible for any perceived infractions and they certainly lack consistency in their rulings.

However, the non-dq yesterday was probably the right call for a number of reasons. Most importantly they didn't really have the angle necessary to see either how the incident developed or if there was definitively a foul. Plus, considering they have pretty much condoned " drifting " ( except when they don't ) they had certainly done as much as told the riders they could do just what Coa was very possibility guilty of.

That horse was left hand whipped into the outside horses path, caused a severe check, and then the checked horse dead heated for second. How does that not cost that horse a spot? No doubt the winner has got to come down in that case. I wasnt involved either, but Im sure anyone who was couldnt have been very happy. They are brutal
