Back in the day, SI had a nice picture of Larry blocking Kareem's sky hook, and it was all ball. My friend and I were big Celtics fans, and whenever a Lakers fan would start to get out of line, we'd break out that picture & it was game, set, match, baby!!!

My favorite memory of Larry, however, was when he stole the ball from Isaah & "dished to DJ"...what a play. Isaah was so bitter about it & I still don't think he's over it, even to this day.

Brad...that was game 5 1987 Eastern Conference Finals at the Gaahden.

I can close my eyes now and hear Johnny Most's raspy voice calling that play...

"aaaaand....now theres a steal by Bird...underneath to DJ...he lays it in!!!! OH MY GOODNESS...."

That was when they used to play a series 2-2-1-1-1...instead of 2-3-2. Had Detroit won, they would have been up 3-2 heading back to Detroit (The Palace at Auburn Hills) with a chance to clinch. Instead...Birds miracle and then his unreal game 7 back in Boston clinched the series and a return to the finals...where they failed to defend their NBA Championship. Lost to the Lakers in 6 if I remember right....

I lived and died with the Celtics as a kid....I miss old school NBA

I remember like it was yesterday. There were 6 of us watching the game, 3 Celtics fans, and 3 Lakers fans (rooting for Detroit, of course)....needless to say, the mayhem that occurred in those final moments was unbelievable. I can honestly say (sad as it may be ) that it was one of the happiest moments of my life.
