If you have a little extra winnings this year...
... or even just a little extra time, there's an organization called anysoldier.com that will get care packages to soldiers overseas who get little or no mail. You can put one together yourself and send it or purchase one they put together for you. Tax-deductible. Or you can just send a letter, which is what the soldiers request the most, anyway.
Whatever each of us might think about the war, the soldiers over there are just doing their job (a very dangerous one) and it's a nice way to support them, especially the ones who may not have anyone at home. I'm sorry if it's not okay to post this, and please take it down if I did wrong-- with all the arguing about Iraq I thought it might be nice to get a word out for a way to take care of the people all of us are supporting. Lord knows I had a tough time figuring out how to ship care packages over there and it's nice that this place can even do it for you...
