Default hard spun

rick porter owns this guy, and he's running today in the penn nursery. plans are to ship him to oaklawn on wednesday to follow the smary/alex route to ky. now, part of the reason i'm following him is because he's by danzig, but he's got some talent to go along with it. hopefully i'll get to see him run today.

Which trainer is he going to be under now that Porter & Servis split? Port Clyde worked in Florida the other day and I think he is with Matz.

larry jones. a bit of irony there, eh?

a relative unknown as well, could lead to bigger and better for this guy as well. asked hubby to set the dvr, as i won't probably be home in time to watch the race live.

Port Clyde is Albertrani I believe. If its the horse who won a one mile maiden race the Sunday following the Breeders Cup in the pouring rain at Aqueduct.

Did you know that the Penn Nursery has produced more Kentucky Derby winners in the last 3 years than the Wood Memorial and the Blue Grass combined?

Did what he needed to do, but he really doesn't look like a stretcher to me by the way he runs. I don't think he will fare well going two turns against the best in his generation.

Your kind of hard to follow Oracle. It's funny that the #1 post after a two year old wins a prep that the "I don't think this horse can handle the two turn race" comment comes up. Just my two cent!

Umm, do they have sarcasm where you come from SmartyAlex?
Obviously any rational and sane person realizes I was originally pointing out a fluke ocurrence of a horse winning this obscure race and winning the Derby as well.
As far as my belief he won't stretch, its just an opinion based on the way I see him running. I'm certainly not "rooting against him" but he doesn't look like a horse who wants to stretch out to two turns to me. Just a simple opinion and I like the horse and his connections so would be pleased if I were wrong.

Not quite an unknown as those who followed the career of the stakes filly Island Sand

Lately Mr. Jones had been plying his trade at Delaware Park with great success.

He had been a regular in the midwest previously.
Most notably Prairie Meadows and other secondary tracks.

My friend calls him "the dude in the cowboy hat who wins all the time".
I think hes got him pegged pretty well.
Hes a very consistent high percentage trainer, and obviously knows what the hell he is doing.

In the form he is listed as J. Larry Jones

I think his stable is taking break after the Delaware meet ended
until the start up of the Oaklawn Park meet
