Congrats to the Philly Park Racino
Philly Park opens their "Racino" today. I have been to Philly Park and it was never anything to brag about. However, I have heard good things about the renovated main building and improvements to the ground. If anyone has been to Philly since the renovation please let me know what it is like. Also, this is HUGE regionally. Maryland has got to get slots and New York has got to follow as well. Hopefully, Ohio and Kentucky will soon follow. The Racino has been a HUGE success in WV and so far it looks positive in Delaware and could be a huge splash for Florida.

Your being way too nice. The place is a dump. I've seen beaches in Staten Island nicer looking than this. |

Hopefully they can improve there paddock soon, it's one awful site. Betting the horses are occurs on the 2nd and 3rd floor only. They really have improved the entrance to the track. The track apron still needs a lot of work. I wonder how much is this going to hurt Delaware. Right now i'm still willing to drive the 1/2 hour more to Delaware, so I don't have to deal with patrons that attend Philly.

EB, I think there going to have something 3,000 slots in the grandstand of the track. These may be temporary slots until the finish there brand new Hotel and casino on one of there parking lots. They are also planning to build a golf course. The local news reported that some big problems Sunday and Monday with there test run of the slot machines with test players. Also a local church who has property what next to the track is complaining about shady activities

Maryland will get slots now. You can take that to the bank.

Maybe I'm spoiled by the nice paddock at Delaware. If you like pigeon
sh*t, then you would love Philly's paddock. |

OK, I've been patiently awaiting slots in Pa...finally!!! Penn National will also gain mightily once their new facilities are fully up and operational. The turf course at Penn is one of the best around and once the stake purses rise to a decent level...we will have first class turf racing! I loved the old paddock at Charles Town...why they moved it I'll never know! It's a nice little track...owned by Penn National by the way! Maryland may never get slots...the state is a battle ground and has been declared "ground zero" by many national religious groups opposed to slots. At some point, they will have to decide...horse racing and a continuation of their breeding program or loss of thousands of jobs and a state devoid of racing! WVa allowed slots for years before CT got them, every county must vote to allow same and Jefferson County refused to pass slot bills. Finally the track followed it's sister track (Shenandoah Downs...across the street from CT) and closed throwing about 2500 folks out of work...Penn agreed to buy both tracks but only with a passed slot bill and...guess what? It passed easily! You will have to search very hard today to find opposition to slots in Jefferson Co.!
