ARROYO JOINS RIDING COLONY ON THURSDAY
Norberto Arroyo Jr., who shifted his tack from New York to California this week, will make his Hollywood Park debut in the third race Thursday aboard C S Viviana in a maiden claiming event for 2-year-old filllies. "He was on horses for (Bob) Baffert at Santa Anita yesterday and (Julio) Canani here today," said agent Jim Pegram. "He will be on a couple more mounts on Friday." Arroyo, 29, has earned more than $30 million in purses since he began riding in 1999 and has won more than 20 stakes in New York. ----------------------------------------------------- We don't have the Boogie Down Bronx out here.Pedroza and Solis are Panamanian, and seem to like it out here(each of them been here for over 20 years.)Maybe he will like the year round warm weather.Always wondered how the Puerto Ricans, and the Dominicans can deal with that cold winter in New York.Arroyo has plenty of talent.Just simply refuses to keep horses straight though. It is a big problem.Funny how Gomez' old agent seems to have the book. |

So who has Kent D book now? Seams funny how the agent calls NY quits before the jock.

I say he gets into it with a jock in a cheap race, so I gotta go with Pedroza getting the KO in 2 1/2 weeks.

I don't agree with this statement about journeymen.P Val( along with the retired July Krone) has always been so incredible at picking up any little message a horse puts out. They are practically horse psychiatrists(as well as jockeys.)There are tons of horses that break there maiden with Pat,and can't come close to winning again (until he gets back on them.)Then ,you have one of the best turf riders in the country in Nakatani(he is a top money rider.)Then, you have one of the strongest physical riders in the game in Espinosa. If they need to be ridden all the way,he is one of the best at that.Good luck trying to beat Court,Cohen,or M.C. BAZE if they get a length ahead of a field. This bugboy Garcia is an incredible gate jockey. If they don't win on the front with him, then they are in trouble, cuz he breaks horses very well from the gate, and has the balls to open up on the turn, and it's over.I am not as impressed at all with him from off the pace.I am still waiting for that turf maiden from G Gate to run again. He found nothing but trouble on him at 5 1/2 at HWD.THAT IS A SINGLE FOR SURE WHEN HE RUNS.IT WAS ON A WEDNESDAY ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO IN THE 5TH RACE.Pedroza can ride with anyone, but is quite emotional, and lacks consistency. One only need to look at the last 2 rides on Charmo to see that.Sorenson does not belong on the grounds at all.Atkinson is a journeyman with o.k. ability.Gryder is good out of the gate on up close stuff. God forbide you play him on anything else(you are asking for da pain if you do.) As we saw yesterday, and last Friday night,Ochoa is not good at keeping a horse out of trouble in a full field. He will continue to find trouble. No, there ain't a hole there dummy.Improvement needed.Arias is better at making decisions.I prefer to use Solis from behind (mainly in allowance and stakes.)Getting a little long in the tooth.but very good with high class stuff from off the pace going 2 turns.I don't think it is a bad jockey colony.I'll tell ya what is bad. What is bad is this seemingly endless # of maiden cow filly races.I have seen enough of those damn races.Stop already with that.Just because they are healthy as weeds, doesn't mean it makes for good entertainment. |

People make too much out of the fact that Kent D.,AND GOMEZ left town.If you remember,Nakatani was btching and talkin' about running too. Why? They all 3 want to be leading rider. They all 3 are bright enough to figure out that they are PVAL'S BTCH if they stay.Nakatani is just barely bright enough to see that there is a lot of money to be made here without winning the jock title. The other 2 are taking a break from sucking PVAL'S WIND(SIMPLE AS THAT.)

interesting move by arroyo, i think he cant hack it out there if he maintains his cool. i still say him and pederson would make the best mixed tag team. jens weapon of choice is a pitchfork that she enjoys chasing people down the shedrow with and norberto wields a mighty pool cue to clobber his opponents with LOL
