Default Imbriale: Sounding VERY Good..

Don't know if others feel this way and sense it, but John Imbriale is calling the Big A races better than he ever has... He sounds sharp and concise and confident with more enthusiasm than he had before his brief 'retirement'. He's technically sound and you get the info without the forced drama.

Oh I noticed it. He seems to be even better than before.

He is sharp in my opinion and easy to listen to.

Steve,

John Imbriale is a class act, at least he was to me every time I've met him up at the SPA. Miss him on the show too. He sounds great !!...Very Entusiastic as well. I would much rather have John than many of the other announcers aroound the country.

NC Tony

Imbriale is awful. If you can't have Durkin then at least bring in Vic Stauffer. He is "STRAIGHT AND STRONG".

Well, you saw how quick everyone scurried to hire Stauffer after he didn't get the GP gig back..

That's because they have to actually pay him what he is worth, it's like shopping at Bloomingdales when NYRA prefers to go to Wal-Mart.

Magna too then.... Right? And you realize that the only reason NYRA asked John to step in was because Magna reached up to NYRA's backup announcer (Larry Collmus) to REPLACE Stauffer.. I'd rethink your line of reasoning..

Imbriale is okay. I guess you develop a preference for certain announcers. He, like Durkin cant call close photos on a consistent basis. Denman and Stofer always make a very good effort to call them.

I prefer Denman but technically he isnt the best guy out there. He sure sucked on BC Day but day in day out I like his voice and overall calling way more than Durkins.

Durkin thinks 23 to the quarter is fast. He flat out calls the wrong horse very often in a race. He should stop drinking and take his job more serious. Hes got a good one. For what he does he may be one of the more overpaid guys out there.

I didn't say he was a bad guy, I just don't care for his skills as an announcer, I think he is as bland and his calls are as monotone and nondescript as they come.

J,

That's a fair criticism I think.. He is bland, but I felt that there's been a certain 'spring' in his voice that had been absent for a long time... And you're right about him being a nice guy...

Monotone is a great way to describe John Imbriale. Technically hes okay but sometimes it downright depressing hearing his voice. Its o tranquil, almost like a psychiatrist.

But I agree with Da Hoss, hearing John Imbriale brings me back to the 90's when horse racing was filled with so many great horses and storylines.

If you want to talk monotone, no one is worse than Battaglia.... I can't stand the cadence he uses to call a race.

I like hearing Imbriale back. I miss him even more on the wrap-up show...those two kids are getting better, but still have a ways to go...

I prefer the 2 kids (Eric Donovan & Jason Blewitt) to Imbriale. Maybe because they are closer to my age and are a little bit more outgoing and funny.

Mike Battaglia is brutal in every way. Imbriale is much more appealing than him. So glad Battaglia is in KY and not NY. I think I would have to give up racing if I had to hear that voice every day.
