Default 1/4: Aqueduct (4th-9th)

Should have simply passed on a lousy opening day card at Gulfstream.. For all the bluster about the 'world class' racing at Hallandale, the first of the meet's 88 cards was dreadful, as was my attempt at a P4 play. Thursday at Aqueduct is far more intriguing and filled with interesting opportunities than GP's card was Wednesday...

Lansdon's colt had nowhere to go at the top of the stretch, lost all momentum and the leader got away.

Thought that was going to be an awesome single at the 3/16ths pole.

Thought so too.. Brutal.. Bad job by Ramon who does that more often than you'd think...

Ramon may be the most overrated rider I have ever seen. He's OK but he asks for trouble way too often for my taste.

Channing Hill could win a lot of races with the mounts Ramon gets.

Thx PP.. I came to really like the winner this morning when I was doing the final selections, but I gave the 4 as the top pick last night on the air and can't reverse that... Good start to the P4... Considering the defections from that 6th race, the price on Jr's Freedom stayed on OK...

Default 4 in the 6th

Steve,

What put you on to that horse.... just the life he showed through the early part of the prior race? Once again...... being cheap cost me. I looked at the PP and said "naw, I don't think so".....

dummy,

He was a sheet play.. Had run races as fast as the logical (Believer) and had come back around in his last. Plus, 3rd off the break and clearly better at AQU on the tighter inner last time than at BEL on the main in May or the AQU main in November. And he was going to be a square price.

In summary, had as good a chance as any to compete with the most logical winner (Be a Believer) and was likely going to be the best price... That's how we like 'em..

capping at work is a hazard. AIO told me the same thing if I had looked at it.

In any case, well played...

The all was indeed the right call.. Maddy's Lion was game. Paid GREAT.. 4-1 on the winner was a gift..

And how about a little standing "O" for Mike Luzzi on the winner..??? Very adroitly done..
