Default Leroy Jolley

Geez looking over GP's 5th today and find he went O/39 last year. Hope he can break the 2007 cherry with Laser but I'll sit it out or take a stab with Zito's if I can get the 8-1 ML.

Old trainers just fade away - I don't think Whittingham had stats anything like his glory years toward the end. But they like the life, don't know how else to spend their time (didn't cultivate hobbies in non-existent spare time), so they keep on training a few horses owned by themselves, family members, or anyone who understands that the trainer doesn't need the horse enough to take abuse or interference.

Someone take Jolley out to dinner. He won a race, well deadheated. Hows that deadheat to break the streak.

They didn't bother with too many stats in Whittinghams day. I know one 'old' trainer that hasn't faded away yet....HAJ closing in on 80

And I bet he doesn't train horses for jerks, just because they pay their bills on time, which a younger trainers may have to do.
