Default Rail Link - Minor Setback.....

From Racing Post.....

Rail Link suffers minor setback

by Desmond Stoneham

RAIL LINK, winner of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe last season, has suffered a minor injury setback.

The Andre Fabre-trained colt, who beat Pride and Hurricane Run to land Europe’s championship showdown in October, is nonetheless expected to return to action as a four-year-old.

However, theson of Dansili has recently been withdrawn from France Galop's official list of horses in training.

Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to Rail Link's owner Khaled Abdullah, said: “Rail Link has suffered from a minor setback, which has been treated at Newmarket this winter. “He would have usually stayed in France but came to England specifically for the treatment. He is expected to return to training with Andre Fabre in February.”

A newspaper report that Richard Hughes, Abdullah’s retainer rider in Britain, has been approached to ride for the Coolmore operation while Kieren Fallon serves his six-month ban for failing a test for cocaine has been scotched by the jockey himself.

Hughes said on Saturday: “I played golf with John Magnier in Barbados recently but there was no talk about horses. It would be a lovely stand in job to have but there has been no approach.”

MISSING LINK OUT OF ARC REPEAT
(no author listed)
Wednesday 18th July 2007

Rail Link, impressive winner of last season's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, has been ruled out for the season after picking up a tendon injury.
Andre Fabre's Dansili colt has won five of his seven career starts but has not run as a four-year-old following a setback during the winter.

And a decision on his future is yet to be confirmed as connections digest the news of his latest injury.

"The colt has suffered a tendon strain and will not race this year," said Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Khalid Abdullah.

"A decision on his future will be announced shortly,"

That's a real shame.

Hope we haven't seen the last of him on the track!
