![]() I love that even under quarantine horses were still allowed to ship to other quarantined tracks...as a result now GG is "virus-free" but...3 cases of EHV have been confirmed @ Los Al...article does not say that there is a link, and I'm not saying that either, but come on...
the only way to prevent the spread of disease is to completely quarantine animals...not allow them to continue to travel around the state, regardless of whether they are symptomatic (since the 'typhoid mary' scenario is real with this particular virus)... and when will the USDA step up and demand microchiping so that any and all horses with contact-- not only with other horses, but with the racetrack, lay-up farms, vans, clinics, handlers, etc can be postively identified based on their movements...seems to me that could go a long way in preventing these outbreaks. http://news.bloodhorse.com/viewstory.asp?id=37024
