I thought this deserved its own thread, since people may not think to look under the regular Barbaro thread. My deepest condolences go out to the Jacksons, Matz, Prado, and everyone else who loved this courageous animal.

Had to be done. Finally the best interests of the horse won out....Extremely sad anytime you lose a horse to racing, whether a 5claimer or a champion.

Think this should be time to remember a fantastic animal and not espouse our personal beliefs on what may or may not have been best for Barbaro since May 20th.
What a terrific champion and talented horse. His story certainly was inspirational.

RIP boy. RIP. Challenge some of the greats up there to a match race. I bet you would do well.

This is why I sometimes hate racing. Just hope there wasn't a lot of suffering during the attempted recovery but I know there was.

I’m not sure if it was cruel to prolong the inevitable, given the magnitude of the injury or no stone un turn trying to save a champion. Either way, we lost a great race horse!!!
