Default NY State of Racing speech

This is over 9 months old, but I'd never seen it and found it interesting reading. A friend who is an occasional lurker here emailed it to me. It's one of those PDF links, so I can't cut and paste the link from a browser. I'll retype it below and hope it works. Bennett Liebman at the Albany Law School gave the speech.

I clicked the link in my earlier post and it seems to work. Cool. Love to hear thoughts on the stuff said in the speech- not a topic I'm up on.

Ben Liebman's remarks were the basis for a recent DRF column by Stan Bergstein. I spoke with Liebman Tuesday in the hopes of having him join us on Wednesday's ATRAB Special, but he had obligations. (He will join us soon though..) He told me to reach out to Maury Wolff who did join the lineup...

Liebman is likely the sharpest mind on racing legalities and finances in America. If we were to ever get a Racing Commissioner/Czar, he'd be at the top of the list for candidates to fill the position... He's be a Bart Giamatti for racing basically...

While I'm quite confident the list of atrocities Pataki committed while Governor affected many, his replacement of Ben Leibman, with the wife of a contributor no less, was a major blow to racing in New York and an all-out slap in the face of the industry.

There are few, if any, more knowledgable than Ben.

Is that column by Bergstein available anywhere but DRF+?

Don't hesitate to read EVERYTHING Bergstein writes... He's a gift to racing that keeps on giving...
