Haradasun will miss raceTim Habel
February 06, 2007 12:00am Article from: Font size: + - Send this article: Print Email COLT Haradasun will sidestep Saturday's star-studded Group 1 Orr Stakes at Caulfield and instead tackle his own age. Trainer Tony Vasil ended speculation he would throw Haradasun in at the deep end, describing the 1400m Orr as "the sprinters' Cox Plate". "He won't run in the Orr. He's only had four starts. I don't want to burn him," Vasil said yesterday. "I'll let them all carve each other up." Haradasun has won three of his four starts. His only loss was an unlucky second to Miss Finland, one of the Orr Stakes headline runners. Vasil nominated Haradasun for the Orr and the Wellington Racing Club Stakes (1400m), a Listed race with set weights and penalties. Among the Orr stars are eight Group 1 winners, including El Segundo, Pompeii Ruler and top New Zealand mare Seachange. Vasil said Haradasun had done well since his soft first-up Zeditave Stakes win last month. He would have run the colt in Saturday's Debonair Stakes at Moonee Valley had he been allowed to make a late nomination. Vasil said Haradasun's program included the Group 3 Schweppervesence (1400m) on February 24 and the Cadbury Guineas (1600m) on March 10. Gai Waterhouse pair Aqua D'Amore and sprinter Dance Hero, Blue Diamond favourite Victory Chant and locals El Segundo and Pompeii Ruler will gallop on the course proper at Caulfield this morning. There are 15 Orr nominations: Aqua D'Amore, Belmonte, Casual Pass, El Segundo, Gallant Guru, Haradasun, Honor In War, King Of Ashford, Marasco, Miss Finland, Niconero, Pompeii Ruler, Red Dazzler, Seachange and Tawqeet. The field and barrier draw will be announced tomorrow. RACING Victoria Limited stewards will on Monday continue its inquiry into Michael Rodd's ride on Byway at Caulfield on January 26. Trainer Graeme Rogerson, racing manager Jim Bowler and Rodd will attend. Owner Lloyd Williams has made a written submission. BLUE Diamond winner Nadeem and Sharkbite will gallop between races at Morphettville on Saturday. Both David Hayes three-year-olds are being set for the Newmarket Handicap at Caulfield on March 10.
