Someone here has been touting Red Raymond for awhile now. I tend to agree. Been working great and looks like Holtus has been waiting for this spot to come up. Think he could have a nice year.

Default Essex

A totally inscrutable race with 8 horses that are making their second start
and five that have won more than 3 times at this distance. It looks like the
9. Jonesboro and the 10. Commander Buck will be gunning for the lead right out of the gate and so neither of them seem likely to win this.

Better candidates seem like:

2. More than Regal-3x handicap winner at this distance. Gets a better post than his last race and hopefully will have fewer traffic problems.

7. Mr. Pursuit-Beat the top pick a couple of times and may again. I just don't like picking faves.

11. Rotary-Looks like his first shot at a stakes race. Beat a couple of these in his last race and is 4 for 5 at this distance.

8. Absent Friend-Deep closer narrowly missed to the 11. horse in his last race while very wide. Has one of the better figs for the distance, but will likely be wide again?

Confidence factor not high for this race. Just taking a shot in the dark really.

I posted picks on this one, but didn't see this thread. Like you I had trouble with this one.

I like Sampson's Son pretty much wherever he goes. Worried about Red Raymond running back to his top from last race.

Joey Carson looks like a threat with his best stuff.

Red Raymond has been hammered down from 12/1 ML to the favorite.

I had the Ex. and Tri a little nice payday. Would've been really nice if Red Raymond won but hey $60 ex and $210 for the $1 tri ain't bad. I didn't like Borel on Jonesboro on the lead. Anyway Raymond got tossed around like tator salad on the 1st turn and still came running at the end. Wished someone would've pressed the 9 on the lead.
